KI7WXMSH7X2LS and XU6WV called us. Great conditions on 20 meters.
KP4XSMMMurphy reared his ugly ass and wreaked havoc throughout the weekend.
KQ6ESSO LP ALLHaving been a ham only since January, it was a big thrill for me to work all continents on 20 mtrs, and encouraging to know that it can be done barefoot and "beamless".
KW8NSO HP ALLAs was the case during the last sunspot minimum, contesting becomes more work and less fun.
LA2MJASO HP 20MMy 2nd WPX, and just as fun and exciting as last year. Must get a PC for next time. Log checking is really hard brainwork (hi).
LU4AAMSHReached nr 1975 (birth year) at 1620 (exact time I born) during 2nd day of the test (my birthday).
LU7DWSO HP ALLIt was my first attempt as single operator all band. I finished as exhaust as if I had get the first place in NY marathon
LU7FEUSO QRP 10MIs my first QRP contest. Is very interesting.
LW2DBMSO LP 10MMaking a contest on 10 meters at the bottom of the cycle is like to make contacts with friends on 80 meters, funny but not exciting.
LW7EGOSO LP 10MWas funny to celebrate my first anniversary as contester using new rig and antenna. See you in 1997.
LW8EXFSO LP 10MDue to housekeeping and my job as kinesiologist on duty, I could't linger longer on the contest. Maybe in 97 will be able to fulfill it.
N3HBXSO HP 20MSuffered some deliberate jamming for part of the contest. Otherwise conditions were very good.
N4BPSO HP 15MIn last 10 minutes worked NA, SA, AF, EU & OC. Condx very spotty.
N4EUKSO LP ALLHeavy QRM on 20; good opening on 10; amazed to work stations in Croatia.
N4MOSO LP 20MAs difficult as low power is, I can't imagine what QRP would entail.
N4UHSO HP ALLI never heard so many new prefixes before at one time.
N5NMXSO LP 10MNot much to hear when line noise is S6! Finally after months of promoting, several local club members took time to work myself and other local participants. Several of them were mults while others were not. One even worked me on his 2M vertical. Most of them are still anti-contest however! But, people change.
N5NMYSO HP 10MI feel very fortunate to have my station located in such a super quiet area, free of electrical line noises, static crashes and at the time, no thunderstorms. It sure helped me in pulling out a lot of weak signals on 10 meters.
N5XUSSO LP ALLFun contest, as always. Eager to see how the new categories work out.
N6SMWSO LP ALLUsed my MFJ 432 Voice Keyer for the first time. Didn't make more QSO's but saved my voice.
N8AXASO QRP ALLBest score in this contest so far for me.
N8IISO HP 20MOnly in the WPX can you make 1100+ QSO's and every other QSO on the average is a multiplier. This was one of the best contests ever for good conditions to Europe on 20M. Signals were strong from before 1130Z and DL, I & EA were still very loud at 2200Z Sunday.
N8LIQSO LP 40MPretty good conditions on 40M for low power operations.
N9OGESO LP ALLWell this is my first WPX contest and though I can't compete with the big guns I hope to have learned a little bit more to help me in the next contest. It's hard to get a decent signal out of a townhouse with all the imposed restrictions. I even took some time to crawl around in the attic to make a few adjustments hoping to improve my signal. I even managed to work a couple of stations on 80 meters, but it was certainly a struggle. I'm looking forward to working the next contest.
NB1BSO HP ALL160 and 80M were very noisy Sat nite - many Europeans don't listen up on 80M and 40M - many easy 6 pt QSO's are lost because of it. Biggest surprise in contest was all of the Far East stations that answered my CQ's in the last hours of the contest.
NE3FMSHHS50A called on Sunday morning to let me know I was "heard" on 80 the nite before! Need better ears.
NI3ISO QRP 20MFirst time ever in a QRP contest. Spent twelve hours to make 38 QSO's on twenty meters. Spent one half hour calling OA4EI. I have to say it was quite an experience not to have any neighbors knocking on my door.
NT5DSO LP ALLAn inconsistent but persistent S9+ power line noise problem kept me from operating full time.
NX3YMSHGreat fun for a bunch of non contesters to mix in and run a score.
NZ5OSO LP ALLEnjoyed the contest, this is one of my favorite contests.
OEM2SMSHHappy to exceed 1995 score despite lower sunspot number and less prefixes worked.
OEM8QSO HP 80MNice contest but not too many US stations on the band.
OH2IWMSHOur warmest regard to the mysterious "Mr/Ms Bleep-sound"! Your timing was remarkably good - until you "got caught" with that tiny error in keying "k"!
ON9CCQSO LP ALLGreat contest. Too bad 10 was entirely closed.
P40ASO HP 80MI blew my TS930 before contest, tried to run on ICOM 735 (wide as a barn door, slow AGC, sounded like mashed potatoes), one leg of inverted Vee broke off and shorted to Delta Loop, got headache from glasses being to weak for the distance from my eyes. What an awakening! Glad to be back to ham radio, looking forward to more fun in upcoming contests.
PA3AEBSO LP ALLGreat contest but some of the eastern block stations were splattering over 20 KHz.
S59ASO HP ALLTS category came right in time! I had no chance to put up better antennas for 40/80/160 this winter, so put a simple inverted vee dipole for 80/40 mtrs two days before contest. Beautiful idea for new categories!!!
SO5TWSA HP ALLEnjoyed working the 20 meter long path opening to the Far East and the Pacific Ocean.
TE1CSO HP 80MQRN level in general was +10 dB higher than normal here (rainy season is 30 days ahead of usual). Wall to wall activity from Europe down to 3.6 MHz! Could only work strong EU directly on first day. Weak ones impossible, as EU QRM would bury my signal.
TF3DMSHThis was a Belgian contest expedition. All of the equipment was bring from Belgium to Reykjavik and installed by the team in the Saga Hotel. The special call TF3D was allocated by the local telecom
TM6TMSHTM6T was a special callsign at F6KBF (radio club of Maisons-Laffitte near Paris) for the WPX and for the 25th anniversary of the club.
UA0SJSO HP ALLVery nice WPX-96. My new record - 1299 QSO for long time activity in contests all year since 1975
UA1ZKZSO LP 20MTU for good contest. I'm 14 years old.
UK8IGSO LP ALLMy first WW WPX contest. Many thanks and best wishes from Uzbekistan.
VC3SKMSHIt came down to a 3 band contest here, at least the snow static wasn't too bad.
VE1RJSO HP ALLContest was going well until I decided to do a major antenna job which took me off the air for most of the weekend.
VE2JTXSO LP 80MMy first HF contest. I'm never going to stop contesting.
VE2XARSO LP 20MThis is my first WPX contest on North American land (VE-land). Thanks for very nice contest. (ex T92X)
VE6GKSO QRP ALLFirst time in 2 yrs I have been able to work Europe "first call" QRP in a contest.
VE7NKISO HP 20MI am acting as K3EST's assistant in gathering technical information for WRTC-96 and the response from team members to my call was quite a thrill.
