VE7BGP | SO LP 20M | I had a lot of fun opeating this contest on a very busy weekend. I had to give my vintage IC-751A a good workout |
VE7CA | SO LP ALL | GOOD FUN AS ALWAYS. GOOD OLD TEN TEC OMNI VI AT 100w AND THREE 20 METER EXTENDED ZEPPS AT 85FT ENABLED ME TO WORK 99% OF THE STNS HEARD |
VE7RK | SO HP ALL | Just dabbling. Love CW! |
VE9VIC | SO LP ALL | Thanks to all, VE9VIC |
VK2BJ | SO HP ALL | Conditions on 160 and 80 very poor and 10 marginal But always good fun |
VK2CCC | SO QRP 80M | Working QRP on 80m band was not a great choice. I wish I would have chosen 40m band. Lesson learnt for the next contest |
VK2IG | SO LP 40M | TS-480HX transmitter at 100W output, switchable Y-doublet at 15m height (is this a 'single element' antenna?). 40m-only operation again this year. Operating conditions to the east (Pacific, North & South America) were good however, this wasn??????t the case for the north and the west (Asia and Europe). Early Sunday morning here saw wall-to-wall signals on 40m short path, but it was extremely hard to be heard. In contrast, Europe was quite workable via the long path in the late afternoons here, when I made more European QSOs than via the short path. Some operators were very quick to give up on difficult contacts - being a 'Worked All Prefix' contest, it is more profitable to rack up the multipliers by working Europe, North America and Japan as opposed to spending time logging a QSO with Australia (offering only 10 prefixes). Some very large sequence numbers (in the 5000??????s) were being exchanged. This was not the most enjoyable contest I have ever been in - I am very much looking to the CQ-WW contests |
VK2PW | SO HP ALL | Thanks for a short run in the contest, thank you to the organisers and all who entered the comp. Good luck all ops 73! Adam |
VK4TT | SO LP 20M | Used 'SD' by EI5DI worked very FB |

VU2CVS | SO HP ALL | I used Kenwood TS 480HX, 200W output with G5RV (40m & 80m) and Hex Beam (20m, 15m & 10m). Could not get a single contact from North America, South America and Africa |
VU2GRM | SO HP ALL | All bands were very active. Conditions were good. Thank to all the authorities for conducting the contest |
VU2PTT | SO HP ALL | Unassisted operation - retain the SOAB HP unassisted section please |
VU2SMS | SO LP ALL | IC745, ALL DIPOLES |
VU2XE | SO LP 20M | Second wave of Covid19 has hit India very badly than the first wave last year. Just 3 weeks ago I was detected symptomatic positive and safely recovered. Due to lockdown, i was at my in-laws place (another coastal citiy of Udupi - 50 Km north of Mangalore). My friend VU2CDP unknowning of my health messaged if i am participating in WPX when just a week to go. Co-incidently a near by friend- Sri VU2SBJ offered to drop power supply and my rig (which I had left after last year's CQWW). All this inspired me to think why not do a casual effort for WPX. My thought was more towards making few contacts and do listening on bands. 'Where there is will, there is a way' - All certain done, just after I recovered and coming out of quarantine room, I went to terrace to see metal roof. But surrounding, there were few buildings which were higher than the terrace floor to west and north west. There was only one way to metal roof via a small window in lift room. Fortunately i had left my spiderpole and 60 ft coax roll last year as well. So all this showed some promise of RF signals!. Made call to Sri VU2SBJ and he arranged 20m dipole, straight key and powersupply couple of days to go for contest. I removed 6 sections (18-20 ft) from spiderpole to be able to push out of the window and made V formation antenna. One arm spread on metal roof and second at angle of ~60deg (max i could do because of obstacles). I did not had any antenna analyzer and had to rely on TS590's SWR meter to check. SWR was higher than 1:5 and could not tune. It was challenge to get the pole retracted back to room due to other machinary area in the room. But somehow had to manage. SBJ suggested to replace BU50 choke he had on dipole with ugly choke (coil of Coax) to see if it does any difference. Next day, I did change of choke using coax coil and also pushed feed point away from building. This time, instead of sloping wire, i hung one end of wire from end of spiderpole to form 90deg vertical. However, other arm was still spread over the metal roof without any contacts. I could get the SWR to 1:3 level and thought that was ok. Now antenna was having some radiation which might be higher angle as per later observation. Another challenge was that i had not used straight key or manual keying for QSOs before(yes, except for initial couple of years in hamming). All my sending was using computer keyer. Though i could easily copy contest QSO at 30WPM, my sending ability was at slow speed. Due to covid recovery, body ache was still persistent which prevented flexing of muscles a bit as well. My participation was limited to S&P this time, but i wanted to store my call in TS590 memory which required a paddle keyer. I made a quick check with a old stereo headphone cable and formed ugly touch paddle with kitchen aluminum foil. touching Left and right channels of the connection simulated dit and dah, which was more than sufficient to get the message stored!. Though i could not use this during the actual Transmission due to RFI messing capacitive touch, it served its purpose. During the contest, i went unassisted and very slow using S&P. I only tried to respond stations which were not busy or having strong signals here. Fortunately, noise levels were very low at this new location. Each QSO i made was like bonus to me. I heard lot of stations to my north and east than to west, which confirmed pattern distortion due to nearby buildings and terrain. The farthest QSOs were from KV2, WW1 and KH6 stations. Few stations wondered why i was at 12WPM while giving numbers asking me to QRQ!. But were very patient to log me in. Thank you all contesters for the support. You made this impromptu effort very worthwhile. Stay safe, See you next time. DE VU2XE |
VU3BYD | Checklog | THIS IS A CHECK LOG. I AM NOT PARICIPATING IN THE CONTEST |
W0BF | SO LP 40M | This is just a half hearted attempt. Really was not in a contesting mood ! Condx were not gud for me. Heard more stations , called them , but they cud not hear me ! Even the regular big guns had a hard time hearing my sig. Also , not happy about the change of taking away the single band assisted category!! So , here is my measly bunch |
W0MN | SO LP ALL | Trying low power. Amp needs repair. I wish it were not on Memoprial Day weekend |
W0OR | SO HP ALL | Sorry, forgot to upload. Meant to enter, but at least you can use it for checking |
W1FJ | SO QRP ALL | Thanks to all the good ears people |
W1ND | SO LP ALL | I've been doing a CW QSO A Day (QAD) for some time now, the past few months I've been shooting for a QAD on 20/30/40, on contest weekends, I make lemonade from lemons and play along but work at least 5 or 10 per band. I got a little carried away. I use my Begali HST in the shack and no memory recorder so I am sending everything. I wasn't using a contest logger either, so I had the worst setup. I was only looking to do about 10 on 20 and 10 on 40 each day. Then 15m and then 10m opened up |
W1VKE | SO QRP ALL | Rookie - 04/09/2019 |
W2CG | SO HP 20M | Part-time effort due to other commitments |
W2DLT | SO HP ALL | FRANKFORD RADIO CLUB |
W2MKM | SO HP ALL | A 2/3rd effort this year (~24 hours) and more than I expected as WX in the Northeast made it easy to put in the time on a Memorial Day weekend .. Conditions on 40M were good on Friday night and ran up a bunch of points then, rain static was a problem much of the night but switched from the 40M EL at 105' to the 4 Square as needed and that played well, was glad to have that option. Station played well, no sign of Murphy thank heavens, new VA6AM BPFs seemed to play well except for some noise on 15M which may have been related the rain and wet condx, will need to get underneath that. 15M was open nicely for a few hours from 15-18z for a relaxed run during that time. All in all a big improvement in the station since 2020 WPX where I posted about 1M but had no alooominum at that time WPX is great fun, love the format Bud and team! 73 Ed W2MKM |
W2NRA | SO LP ALL | My intent was to have some fun and help CW my friends. I was not being competitive. Thank you for the QSOs. 73 Art W2NRA CWOPS #1955 |

W4THI | MSH | Excellent contest and very favorable band conditions. The XYL is becoming a true CW contest champion! |
W6KC | SO LP ALL | I??????m on vacation operating portable on the Oregon coast in Manzanita OR. Using a 60 ft EFLW zig-zagged through the trees at about 25ft and my Yaesu FT991A running 100 watts. It was a challenge making QSOs with a low wire antenna in the trees but I managed to work 20 countries so it was fun! 73, Jim W6KC/7 |
W6QU | SO QRP ALL | Despite the rules change that allows almost all entries to use spotting nets, I still went unassisted. I just never got around to checking the nets! |
W6SIY | SO QRP ALL | First time working on score, instead of just chasing DX |
W7AOF | SO HP ALL | First license date: 13.03.2021 (DD/MM/YYYY) My first CW contest. Thanks to RHR Youth ! |
