WQ3NSO HP ALLJust got on to give out the multiplier
WQ6XSO LP 10MThis is an ad-HOC WPX Ssb run from W7AYT's QTH in the SF East Bay. This was a Sunday afternoon last minute operation, running 90-watts into a 3-element Long John Yagi about 25' high - enough to work virtually every station heard. Unfortunately, with poor propagation, not a lot was heard. At least I can say I wuz there. Look for a write-up on this at: http://WQ6X.Blogspot.com
WR8AASO LP ALLUsed weekend to get a basic station on the air from Cape Cod. Had a transceiver and some wire here. Most difficult items to locate were the correct microphone connector and a USB-to-ethernet converter to connect the Flex-6500 to my MacBook. Amazon overnight to the rescue. Then I had to download, configure, and learn the new logging and SDR software on the fly. Part of the fun? In the old days erecting an antenna and hooking up the radio got one on the air. Now that is just the beginning of the process. The trade-offs are no hand-duping logs and writing QSLs. The bigger problem was that the planned vertical wire antenna wouldn't resonate and the weather was freezing cold and windy. On Sunday I finally put up an EFHW at 23 feet (7 meters). The serious competitors at big stations a skip or two away were easy to work and may have appreciated the new multiplier late Sunday. Others were difficult to work, although two JAs and a KH6 made it into the log on 15. And DXpedition CY0S was welcomingly loud single-skip on both 20 and 15
WS1KSO LP ALLFirst time operating CQ WPX SSB. Had fun

WW3GSO LP ALLFun contest, and I improved significantly from last year- ~5x the QSOs, ~3x more prefixes, and more than 10x my score from last year! I made a mistake and responded to a station running outside of the phone portion of the US band. I marked that as an X-QSO to remove it from my score, and was more careful for the rest of the contest. There was one station that asked me to spot them, which I believe is against the rules about spotting. I was spotting most stations that I came across, so I'm not sure this specific incident made a big deal. The station that asked me to spot them seems to have done quite well based on what's showing so far on 3830, and shouldn't need to ask for spots if they're going to be near the top of the scoreboard
