BI1TMQSO LP ALLFirst license 05-2024 First licensed in 05-2024. It's my first time using my own callsign to participate whole contest in the field. I built my station with a portable YAGI at 8mH and an inverted-V DP on top of a mountain, trying to break the BY rookie record. The propagation seemed very good during the contest but strong wind stopped my operation and eventually broke my YAGI and tripod, I used the ATU for remaining time and failed to break the record. Anyway, it was a nice contest and I enjoyed it!

C4ESO HP ALLThanks to everyone for the contacts! This year's CQ WPX SSB was a true test of endurance. The contest started very slowly for me. With high noise levels and heavy statics, only 40m and 80m were open at very low rates. I decided to take a few hours of rest and wait for better conditions. The turning point came around 08:00-09:00 UTC when the rain stopped and the bands finally opened up. I spent a long time on 10m while keeping the other radios on 15m and 20m. For about 8 hours, the pileups were loud and exciting! On the technical side, I experimented with N1MM and Piper TTS on my 2nd and 3rd radios. On the first day, I tried a male voice, but by Sunday, I switched to the 'Ami' voice, which was much clearer and easier for others to understand. Despite the new technology, I still found that a human voice is best for handling heavy pileups. I also struggled with heavy QRM from intruders—amateurs hate these new technologies that clutter the frequencies—but it's a challenge we just have to live with and work through these days.Disaster struck around 18:00Z. A storm even worse than the previous night arrived with torrential rain, heavy statics, and triple the wind speed. As noise spiked on 20m, I moved to 40m and BANG! The amp tripped. I checked the radio and saw infinite SWR. I tried to go outside, but the storm was too intense. Looking through the window, I saw the broken elements of my 40m Yagi.I continued on 80m, but it wasn't very productive. My mistake was not going to sleep earlier to catch the JA multipliers, but you never know in the heat of the moment! Sunday was a similar 'dance' between 10m and 20m. In the final hours, 20m opened beautifully to the USA, but my operating time ran out. Rules are rules!Congratulations to all participants and especially the winners. See you on the air! 73!
