8S8S | SO LP ALL | Nice to see that I could work from country house with low tribander beam for 10-15-20 and wire dipoles for 40-80. No internet connection, so Classic seem to be the right choice. Hard to do Low power with band filled with big guns. The silence in the rual area where the country house is placed, is nice for recovering my ears -) |

AA4AQ | SO HP ALL | The openings on 15 meters were unexpected. Good propagation openings on 20 meters on Saturday night |
AA4VT | M2 | How do you cram a 1500W, Multi/2 station on a 1/4 acre lot in a residential subdivision with a single, 72ft retractable, tilt over tower serving all transmit antennas? Ask Dave, AA4VT. He did just that with minimal interference between bands using ferrite chokes on just about every lead and coax, high-powered Band Pass filters made by VA6AM, and what seemed to be miles of stub filter, interconnecting cables and wires. In addition, the station was fully automated so that tired operators wouldn't plug or unplug a critical cable in the heat of battle. The tower supports both a SteppIR DB36 at 75 ft covering 40-10m and a home-brewed optimized 3, 4, and 5 element Yagi for 20, 15, and 10m respectively at 40 ft. The tower was shunt fed for 80 and 160m. RX antennas for the low bands were NE and NW pennants. Incredible engineering! Our hats are off to Dave. But the conditions were brutal at times. Even with 3 elements at 75 ft, getting into EU on 40m was a challenge on Friday and Saturday nights. During the day on 20 and 15m, EU was not heard until afternoon. Asia was almost silent. The static crashes on 80 and 160m from the huge storm extending from Louisiana to Illinois allowed us to get a few hours sleep on Saturday night from 2-6am, which was good for us older members (that would be all of us, except one). We managed some good 100-120 contacts/hour runs, but much of our time was spend Searching and pouncing for those non-dupes and multipliers we could hear. Great time at an amazing station! Contgratulations to our team and Dave! W4GE at AA4VT Rigs: Two K3(s)/P3s, KPA1500 and Acom 2000A amps, N1MM+ software, FreqEZ and custom PLC controllers, VA6AM High Power 160-10m Band Pass filters.
