Final Log Total for 2009 WPX SSB

I am very pleased to report that we exceeded our goal of log submissions for the SSB edition of the CQ WPX Contest this year.  The current total is 4084 (well above the 3728 from last year)!  Thanks to each of you for getting on the air during the contest AND for submitting your log.

I really appreciate the help from enthusiastic Yankee Clipper Contest Club volunteers who took on the job of typing in the 70+ paper logs that were received.  Three cheers to WA1Z, W1UE, N1NK, N8RA, W1TO, W1KM, W1ZT, WO1N, and W2JU for their hours of reading difficult handwriting and carefully converting them into  Cabrillo format log files.

Deadline for the CW contest logs is coming up July 1.  The robot has already received and processed over 2900 logs!  Please send your CW log, no matter how big or small, to cw@cqwpx.com.  The list of logs received can be found at http://www.cqwpx.com/logs_received_cw.htm — please take a quick look and make sure your log is there.

WPX SSB 2009 High Claimed Scores

The complete listing of high claimed scores for the CQ WPX Contest SSB 2009 are now available at http://www.cqwpx.com/claimed_2009_wpx_ssb_scores.htm.

Scores shown are those claimed by the participants.  Not all scores are calculated correctly. For logs where an entrant did not provide a claimed score we have substituted their calculated score before checking.

The purpose of the high claimed scores is to give entrants an opportunity to confirm that their entry has been submitted in the correct category and to get a first look at the competition.  Please send any corrections or questions to k5zd@cqwpx.com.

We received 3985 logs by the May 15 log submission deadline. When the paper logs are received from CQ Magazine I am confident we will have set an all time log submission record and exceeded the goal of 4000 logs received!  Thanks to all of you who participated in the contest.  Logs are still welcome to ssb@cqwpx.com.

On-Line Certificates now Available!

Lots of people who enter a contest would love to receive a certificate for their efforts.  Unfortunately, it is too expensive to mail one to everyone, so we have had to limit providing certificates just to those who won their region and category.

I am pleased to announce that all participants of the WPX Contest SSB/CW for 2007-2008 can now download electronic versions of their certificates in Adobe Acrobat (pdf) format.  This will enable you to print out your certificate on your own color printer.  Simply go to the on-line searchable score database and search for your score.  Then click on the [cert] link to generate the pdf file.  Your browser may pop-up a security warning, which you will need to accept, before the file will download to your computer.

All electronic certificates include the operator list, category, score, and country ranking.  An additional ranking is included for scores in the world top 50 for the entrant’s category.

Special thanks to Tom Morrison, K5TM, for his assistance in the programming to enable the new certificates. With so many variations of calls and categories, please let me know if you find anything that doesn’t look right.
